According to the city, Arnold Schwarzenegger claimed to have recently repaired a "giant pothole" on a street in his Los Angeles neighbourhood, but it was actually a trench that had been dug for utility work.
"After the whole neighborhood has been upset about this giant pothole that’s been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks, I went out with my team and fixed it," he wrote on Twitter.
The 75-year-old claims in the video that goes along with the tweet that he has been waiting for the city to fix the pothole for three weeks. He tells a passing neighbour, "This is crazy," "Thank you very much."
For those who are unsure whether the do-it-yourself procedure will actually work, Quickrete claims that it will as long as the Quikrete Commercial Grade High Performance tarmac Repair is applied.
According to one news source, Schwarzenegger might have acted prematurely because the hole was there for a reason.
This was a "service trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by SoCal Gas, who expects the work to be completed by the end of May," according to Elena Stern.
Schwarzenegger, who is frequently pictured riding a bike, made headlines earlier this year when a car and a bike collided and he was injured.
He was operating his SUV when a cyclist suddenly swerved into his lane. Schwarzenegger couldn't react quickly enough to avoid a collision.
Only minor injuries were received by the woman, and charges were brought. Schwarzenegger was seen with two bicycles strapped to the hitchrack of the SUV, suggesting that he had either just finished a bike trip or was about to go on one.
According to Newsweek, Schwarzenegger's tarmac patch needed strengthening on Wednesday, so SoCal Gas dispatched a crew to level it out. According to Ketchell, Schwarzenegger contributed to the repair of a separate pothole.
