Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaq Barrett's 2-year-old daughter died on Sunday morning after drowning in a swimming pool at the family's Tampa, Fla., home.

Officers responded to a call reporting that a youngster had fallen into a pool just before 9:30 a.m., according to a statement from the Tampa Police Department.

That child was Arrayah, Barrett's daughter, who was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later declared dead despite first responders' best efforts to save her life.

According to Tampa police, the event is presently being investigated but is not thought to be suspicious.

In a statement following the incident, the Buccaneers expressed their sorrow and offered the Barrett family their love and support.

Through social media, teams from the entire NFL expressed their condolences to Shaq Barrett's family. Arrayah Barrett was the youngest of four children.

Shaq Barrett, 30, played for the Denver Broncos for four seasons prior to joining Tampa Bay.

He appeared in eight games (all starts) during the 2022 campaign, recording three sacks and 31 tackles.

Shaq Barrett has accumulated 54.5 sacks, 348 tackles (70 for loss), and 19 forced fumbles in 115 games (69 starts) throughout the course of his career.

In addition, he has two interceptions and five fumble recoveries. In his debut year with Tampa Bay, he had 19.5 sacks, the most in the NFL.
